The KA WA'A Lu'au at Aulani Is Reopening!

One of the most amazing vacations that my family has ever taken was to Hawaii a couple of years ago. We’ve been planning our return trip to Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa pretty much since the moment we sat in the shuttle to return to the airport and leave the beautiful island of Oahu.

Aulani is a luxury Disney Resort and Spa and while there are so many amazing places to visit in the islands of Hawaii, we definitely loved this beautiful resort. I am so thrilled to see Hawaii opening again to tourism and businesses returning. Visiting Hawaii will be like no other vacation you have ever taken.

I always encourage my guests to book excursions, rent a car, and get out to visit all Oahu has to offer. While I think that is so important to a vacation like this, there is also so much to do that it is just as important to plan some time just enjoying this amazing resort!

Disney is known around the world to be breathtaking storytellers. Integrating the culture and history of Hawaii and it’s people was a very big part of developing the Aulani Resort & Spa. While visiting you will find opportunities to learn and experience the culture in a lot of ways. Activities, games, food, language, art, classes, music and entertainment - the list is endless.

Everyone should plan to attend a lu’au while in Hawaii and I personally think attending more than one if you are staying a week or longer is an even better plan! Aulani has their very own lu’au onsite named the KA WA’A Lu’au and it is reopening on March 27th.

The Lu’au begins welcoming guests when the conch shell is blown and the Hawaiian oli chant begins. There will be some changes to the lu’au as safety and health precautions have been put in place, but it is sure to still be an amazing way to immerse yourself in the culture of Hawaii. The live music, dancing and story telling will offer a vibrant show of art, culture and entertainment that you will not want to miss.

The KA WA’A Lu’au offered family activities spread through out the lu’au that allowed you to learn more about the Hawaiian culture and history through participation. These activities will still be offered but will be brought to your table to help enhance safety precautions. Demonstrations will include flower arranging as well as poi pounding. You will even have an opportunity to try poi which comes from Taro root and is a staple in the ancient Hawaiian diet.

Another change you’ll find to the lu’au is that the food will no longer be served buffet style. The reality is buffets may just be a thing of the past and those businesses that are able to make that adjustment early in the process will likely be the most successful at re-opening quickly. The meal will now be served as a three course plated meal and alcoholic as well non-alcoholic beverages are included in the price.

Following the dinner, the show will go on very similarly to how it has been in the past, sharing a beautiful journey through Hawaiian history and the canoe exploration. The dancing, vivid colors, art and story telling will capture your imagination and take you places you’ve only imagined.

As the sun sets across the island, this amazing show brings an experience that you will not regret. Every lu’au is different and offers something special but if you are visiting Aulani for the first time, this lu’au is a must do for your family in my opinion!

You do need to book this in advance of your trip as there is limited seating.
