Memory Maker - The Best Add On to a WDW Package
/There are a lot of things you can add to your Walt Disney World vacation – princess or pirate makeovers, dessert parties, early morning or late-night events, special dining experiences, a variety of tours… the list
goes on and on! I have enjoyed so many of these and love the idea of adding some special magic to our vacations. However, there is one add on that I do every single WDW trip – Memory Maker!
Memory Maker is a product that you can purchase at a reduced price before your trip or at full price afterwards. Throughout all the parks, Disney Springs, and sometimes even in resorts, you will spot photographers in tan vests. These photographers are part of the PhotoPass service offered at Walt Disney World. They capture memories of guests in front of iconic locations, with characters, at special events, and throughout all of Walt Disney World. Those photos make up a part of the Memory Maker product. However, there is even more included in the Memory Maker! The Memory Maker includes photos and videos taken while on rides, magic shots, character photos, dining experience photos and more!
Paying for pictures before you see them is a tough thing to do and I understand that. My children’s school does pre-purchase fall photos and I never order them. With Memory Maker’s price tag, it can be intimidating to make this purchase as well. I can say though that this is one of the greatest values that I have ever had on any of our trips. In fact, I have never had a guest tell me that they regretted purchasing Memory Maker, but I have had a few tell me that they regretted not pre-purchasing it and saving some money!
I have never been someone who went to amusement parks and wanted to buy ride photos. I am the person who is making a face or blinking or looking the other way. However, I have some truly favorite ride photos from
Walt Disney World. While we love the Tower of Terror, Expedition Everest and Slinky Dog photos my favorite ride photos are from Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. We have some great ones with our kids that I will cherish forever. Plus, on Memory Maker your pictures are included in a video format from the ride! It’s a great
way to capture those precious memories. Another popular ride photo is from Toy Story Mania but since I am
typically aggressively competing to get a higher score than my husband on this ride, I am never paying attention to the camera!
Special events and parties are another great time for photos. The photos from the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience are amazing. My girls have loved their princess make overs and having images taken through out this experience is something we love to go back and look at. The Jedi Training Academy is another special event that children can participate in and there are Photopass photographers on standby capturing every
moment of your little padawan’s training.
Parties like Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will not only have Photopass photographers in abundance but will also have special effect photos only found during the parties!
Are you a fan of Epcot’s festivals? Don’t worry, there are special photos during these too! Whether photos in front of beautiful landscaping at the International Flower and Garden Festival or inside of a painting at the International Art Festival are your preference, you can find some great festival photo opportunities.
One of my family favorites are called Magic Shots. Magic shots are those pictures where something extra is added to your image. Photopass Photographers may ask you to pose a certain way or stand facing a
specific direction. You’ll see the surprise when your images upload to your account! Make sure you ask photographers for the magic shots. I typically have a rule of thumb if there is no one in line behind us, I always ask for a magic shot!
There are some new Magic Shots that are making their way into the hearts of all guests as well. The Super Zoom Photos which are taken from a distance capturing a large part of the park or park icons and then
zooming in on the guests. These are animated images loaded to your account where the focus of the camera will zoom in and or out to capture an image at a distance and the focus in on your image. They are amazing new shots and very popular!
As if all of this were not enough, there are also two portrait studios onsite at Walt Disney World. One is located in Castle Couture in Magic Kingdom. This studio is designed for princesses to have their photos taken in a
professional studio setting after their make overs. The second, the Photopass Studio is in Disney Springs and is a great location for family photos with a variety of backgrounds. All these images are part of your Memory Maker package.
There are always new Photopass opportunities and magic shots added to Disney Parks so make sure you ask your travel planner or Photopass Photographers about any special photo opportunities you won’t want to miss.
