A Savory Snack at 8 Spoon Cafe
/Snacks at Walt Disney World have become as popular as any other dining! With all of the amazing choices, it is no wonder! From cotton candy to cupcakes, ice cream to chocolate covered fruit, pretzels to popcorn and that is only the beginning. Every vacationer is posting pictures of the iconic Mickey shaped ice cream or the wildly popular Dole Whip.
I love my sweet snacks as much, and maybe more, as the next person. I admit I have even had both Le Fou’s brew and the huge cinnamon roll from Gaston’s Tavern at one sitting on occasion which is the ultimate sugar
rush! A few years ago, though, I was on a mission to discover and try some of the more savory snacks to enjoy on our Disney vacations. These snacks don’t make it in as many of the vacation photos or top ten lists, but they definitely should because they are simply amazing!
My favorite savory snack at Walt Disney world can be found at Animal Kingdom. Eight Spoon Café is a small walk up location that offers multiple options for use of snack credits if on the dining plan. It’s easy to miss if you aren’t looking for it but has become one of our must stop locations whenever we are in the parks. This location is known for its specialty macaroni and cheese. It brings the feel good food to the next level though with some new twists!
There are three varieties of the macaroni and cheese specialty – macaroni and cheese (plain), macaroni and cheese with pulled park, or macaroni and cheese with shrimp and sweet chili sauce. My family tried all three since I was dying to try the pork and shrimp but we were traveling with a picky toddler! While this is a great snack, I have to say, it’s one of those that are too good to share so make everyone get their own! We definitely preferred the pulled pork and shrimp with sweet chili sauce over the plain mac and cheese. Even our picky eaters loved the pulled pork!
This is a great option whether you are on the dining plan or not so when you are wandering through Animal Kingdom, stop for a quick snack! There is only one downside, this location closes seasonally so if you are in the parks and see it open, don’t pass it by! Do you have a favorite WDW snack? Share in the comments!
