Teppan Edo - On Our Must Visit List!
As frequent Walt Disney World visitors, we have a very long list of favorites! Favorite rides, favorite shows, favorite resorts, favorite activities, favorite snacks, favorite meals, favorite drinks – the list goes on! We keep a list of favorite dining locations though from one trip to the next. We are always planning which restaurants we
will visit again on the next trip. I try to sneak in something new every trip though so we can keep experiencing all that the “world” has to offer.
My must visit soon list included Teppan Edo in Epcot. It’s a favorite of so many of my friends, family and guests that I knew we had to try it. Our rather picky eaters though had my husband second guessing and I even let him talk me out of it for about two days but I was determined. I can be a tad bit stubborn after all, so with his concerns that the girls wouldn’t touch their food, we set our plan in motion.
We actually had a very early dinner as we were attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party later that evening. Our grand attempt to get the kids to take a nap prior to the party was squelched by all of the
excitement so it wasn’t a great surprise that my four year old fell asleep in a stroller on our trek across Epcot to the restaurant. We were not about to wake her up because we all knew that was the fastest way to a ruined dinner.
The wait staff at Teppan Edo was fabulous about ensuring we had a table with space to bring the stroller with us and allow her to continue her nap. We were seated quickly and since we weren’t dining at a peak time, we
were the only group at our table. It was explained when checking in that we would share a table with other families but it just didn’t work out that way in the end.
We love Japanese cuisine and were looking forward to the experience. Our girls were willing to try but a bit skeptical. The staff changed that immediately! To our surprise, my four year old awoke shortly after
we were seated and was quick to put on a smile. After preparing kid friendly chopsticks our waitress taught them how to use them and this alone was an experience that seemed to prepare the girls for something beyond chicken nuggets and hamburgers!
Our chef was amazing! He involved the whole family immediately with conversation and culinary art. He told us all about the sauces. Shortly after, my youngest informed us that we just had to buy Yum Yum sauce when we went home. Whether he was slicing vegetables, tossing shrimp in the air, creating food volcanos, or mickey shaped vegetables, we were mesmerized throughout the meal. It was a great time.
Then there was the food. It was by far our favorite meal all that week. The food was delicious. We started with a simple garden salad, followed by udon noodles, vegetables and steamed white rice. I had a steak and shrimp combo while my husband had filet mignon. My oldest had the children’s shrimp and my youngest the children’s chicken meal. That was all followed with dessert! There were several different mousse cakes that were offered but honestly after the delicious dinner we had very little room for dessert. I was amazed at how much my children ate. I even refrained from saying I told you so to my husband because in all honesty, I was afraid we would have to stop to purchase something else for the girls after dinner.
Teppan Edo is already on our must do list for our next WDW vacation!
